But most of the time, you will store the plate for a while until you are certain your cloning worked. To prevent any unwanted microbes from growing on your plate, it is important to seal the edges. The two most common ways of sealing plates are 1) using plastic wrap, or 2) using Parafilm.If you’ve never used Parafilm to seal an agar plate, chances are that you’ll use too much of it.
